Welcome to the 10th annual Great Texas Mud Race! While Team Motorjam actually produced their first indoor event in 2001, including sand drags, the Great Texas Mud Race was held for the first time in August of 2004 and has continued to grow into one of the largest mud racing events in this part of the country.
With that being said, we are looking forward to a an awesome 10 year anniversary in 2013! We have plans for improved safety features at the track itself, and much needed consolidating of classes. In order for this event to continue, we had to scale back the number of classes. This is a very positive thing for both fans and competitors alike. Many hours of examining all classes were put in in an effort not to eliminate any competitors from a chance to compete. Many trucks were making as many as four passes, which is just not an exciting thing for our spectators, whom without we would not be here. We were losing our fans due to the late hours, and our racers were also getting tired of watching 17 different classes run, especially when it was just many of the same trucks over & over. Nothing wrong with getting to run in at least 2 classes if possible, but beyond that it gets tiresome on fans & racers alike.
Also, while safety is always first priority, we cannot continue to have the same classes run last each night. We owe it to the fans to be able to see a little of everything prior to it getting too late. We will have the equipment and operators there to re prep track if that's what has to happen in order to put on a quality & safely ran show.
You will see that we are requesting feedback on some classes listed in the 2013 Class Rules & Info.
1. We need to hear from any blown cars that will be competing in the Open Paddles Fast Track Class in advance.
2. We need to hear from any 2w/d Mod that will be competing. (We had 4 Friday & 5 Saturday in 2012.) THANKS, THIS CLASS IS A GO!!!
3. We need to hear from any true OPS cars that will be competing.
4. We need to hear from any Tractor Tire trucks that will be competing in the Bog Track. THANKS, THIS CLASS IS A GO!!!
5. We need to hear from any Class 6 Outlaw Bog Trucks (Ark La Tex Rules) - that are legal for this class only.
*As mentioned above, while we do not want to eleminate competitors from being able to have a class to run in, we also dont want to basically run the same
class twice. Why not just pay a larger purse for the one class, and also help cut down on the number of classes we run, which everyone wants.
6. We are considering going to a 500ci limit on Super Stock Fast Track v/s the 474. *If you run this class, we would like your input.
*All Contact info listed in the rules.
*There could be some adjustments according to feedback we receive in the coming weeks. Kipp & I will also be attending several races prior to August to visit with the racers and see what classes are running where, what new safety rules are being enforced, etc.
*While the grand total of the purse has not been posted, it will be as we hear from a couple of classes to see if there will be participation. It will be in the $15k range Guaranteed if we get confirmation from these classes.
